Why Wives and Girlfriends Thank Me

Reader - I can't tell you how often women thank me for the work I do with men.

They’re always intrigued by my couples work. But when I mention that I lead men’s groups, they often pause — and literally thank me.

By now, I’m used to it.
Still, it catches me almost every time.

Actually, "amused" isn't quite the right word for how I feel.
Because beneath their thanks, there’s often something deeper; something that deserves real honoring.

You see (or maybe you already know):
Many women have experienced men who aren’t fully present.
Men who can’t access their emotions.
Men who make women wrong for feeling too much.
Men who run away — emotionally or literally.

Those experiences leave behind a trail of grief, frustration, and sometimes, a heartbreaking loss of faith in relationships.

Ten years ago, I wouldn't have understood their gratitude.

I didn't think I was the "men’s group" type.
I was educated, spiritual, connected.
I didn’t think I needed more men in my life.

But life had other plans for me.
Plans that included mistakes, failures, and deep hurt, especially hurt I caused people I loved.
I broke trust. I dropped people who were counting on me.
I lost myself.

It was only after all of that that a woman gave me the nudge I needed — the push to join a men’s group.
Not just any group.
A circle of men who would challenge me, hold me accountable, sharpen me — and love me back into a life of integrity.

Today, I lead multiple men's programs.

  • I run The Wisdom Circle in San Francisco and Redwood City (with new cohorts beginning in June and July).
  • I co-lead The Embodied Men’s Leadership Training with John Wineland.
  • I train other men’s group leaders — through John’s programs and my own private mastermind (Leaders of Men).

And now, maybe you — or a man you care about — need that nudge too.

This is your nudge.

If you're in the Bay Area, come join me.
If we’re not the right match, I’ll introduce you to a trusted colleague.

If you’re outside the Bay Area, reach out — I know excellent men’s group leaders across North America, Europe, Asia, and Australia.

Don't wait until your life is in ruins.
Don't wait until you’ve hurt people you love.

Start the journey now.

With deep respect and love,
Ted

P.S. If you’re even thinking about joining a men’s group, trust that impulse. Send me a quick reply. I’ll help you find the right fit, whether it's with me or someone else.
